Prior work

These pages are not part of the Safe Seats register. They come from an earlier and separate inquiry into four states — Florida, Nebraska, Kansas and South Carolina — that was not selected on the safe-seat criterion. Those four do hold Senate seats in the class the register covers, but that is a coincidence of overlap, not a shared origin, and the two projects reach different questions by different routes.

What carried forward was method rather than substance: naming the state that sits outside a grouping instead of quietly dropping it, keeping announced figures separate from approved and realized ones, and listing research gaps on the page rather than smoothing them over. The findings did not carry forward. The four-state work concluded around crosscutting pairs, an initiative divide and property-insurance exposure; the register is organised around three documented pressures and the office that decides each one.

They are kept here because the work is real and because deleting pages breaks links, not because they support the register's argument. Neither has been re-verified since it was compiled.
